Personal Empowerment – Gentle Movement in Awareness

January 31st, 2010 Categories: Personal Power

The phrases personal development and self improvement describe general categories under which information is provided about how to understand and then perhaps make adjustments to different aspects of your life and experience so as to make things different or better.

The words development and improvement present the strong and rather unmistakable, underlying assumption that there are things inside you that need improvement… because… well, because you are (reportedly, at least) deficient, broken or defective in some manner!

However, isn’t that an incredible assumption? What if you are not deficient, not broken, not defective? What if it’s all there, where and how you placed it or wanted to experience it?

If this is the actual situation, do you really need a new, improved you? Or, just a broader awareness of all that is actually going on within all of you?

Consider this perspective:

You are not deficient nor are you broken or defective in any way. Rather, you may merely be objectively unaware of all of what you are actually creating in your life or how you are creating it, which, in turn, may now be generating a bit of confusion or stress in your life.

The word objectively as used here means that which you are consciously aware of in your normal everyday waking life.

This perspective allows you to connect with some quite amazing things about yourself. First, it’s great to know that you are not broken! Perhaps really confused at the moment – but not actually broken or defective!

Second, there’s now no reason to put yourself down simply because, at one point in time, you may be objectively unaware of all that you are doing. This is not an excuse for behavior, but it is a significant perspective on personal empowerment.

And third, gently turning your attention back to yourself so that you allow yourself an expanded awareness of what you are actually creating and how you are creating it has to be easier than trying to tinker with and fix amorphous and deficient internal workings! You are not software computer code.

Moreover, as you do turn your attention toward yourself and appreciate what you are creating, you actually generate an awareness of your own personal power and the choices you actually have at hand. This movement leads to personal empowerment and creative action.

While words like development and improvement or similar may generally be useful to get a sense of internal personal movement, more accurate wording for the movement toward yourself in awareness must necessarily include the notion of personal empowerment.
