The Magical Heart of Personal Empowerment
Tapping into your personal power has something to do with recognizing the incredibly significant distinction between understanding things in your head (intellectualizing) and understanding things in your gut (experiencing).
Without the slightest exaggeration, genuinely understanding exactly how these two actions are different can bring you to the magical heart of personal empowerment.
Why is it such an important distinction? Well, it’s important because you actually express your power by doing, not by merely thinking about doing. Of course, there is obviously nothing wrong with thinking, and we would all do well to encourage more of it – as anyone who even skims the daily news already knows!
As you connect and get grounded, or, in other words, as you begin to focus more of your attention on what you are actually doing – rather than remaining focused almost exclusively on what you may think you are doing – you will begin to gently move toward yourself. And being in touch with yourself is the best motivator.
This is no small thing! In fact, it’s quite magical. Many personal empowerment systems from cultures around the world are based on this simple perceptual adjustment. And the beauty of it is that there are no outside restrictions – you are free to refocus your attention anytime and anywhere.
Being more in touch with yourself by noticing what you are actually doing is also quite powerful. It puts you in a position of allowing yourself to then adjust and direct the experiences that you are generating in your life – rather than having to plod and suffer through what otherwise might appear to be happening to you. And that’s because what you are actually experiencing moment-to-moment is about the best indication you actually have as to what you have chosen to do and experience.
Directing your experiences within an awareness of yourself and your own action instead of carrying around the weight of your existence as a helpless victim will, almost magically, produce a sea change in your life. By redirecting your attention in this way, you will begin to move rather effortlessly with increased awareness and freedom.
It all begins with simply noticing what you are actually doing rather than mindlessly focusing on what you think you are doing. Try it. Get grounded by noticing and paying attention to what you are actually doing, and see what happens.
No doubt you will be in for a real surprise!
