The True Power of Perception

February 12th, 2010 Categories: Perception

The way in which you view yourself and your world is not fixed. It can and does change over time. When you think about it, that simple fact about your perceptual mechanism is quite amazing and powerful. The potency of your perception, however, is not just that you view things differently over time but that you can choose to perceive things differently whenever you desire.

Consider just how incredibly powerful your perception actually is. As your perspective changes, you can and do change your actions and thus you directly influence what then happens. In effect, and not just in a manner of speaking, you employ perception to not only interface within your reality but to create it as well.

It is somewhat like computer software which processes information and then creates the imagery displayed on your computer monitor. Similar to software which defines and creates the virtual reality presented, your perception defines and creates your objective reality.

However, there’s also quite a bit more going on. Perception is not merely a limited neurological process by which you acquire and process information through your brain and senses. Nor is it limited to physical brain functioning. Rather, perception is an active component of your identity which is sourced prior to a resulting physical, mental, biological or chemical process.

That is to say, your physical brain is not the source of your perception any more than a computer monitor is the source of the images which are displayed. Through your perception you generate and create the imagery that you manifest within your world, just as the virtual reality of a computer is actually being created by your interaction with the software which displays the result on the monitor.

Recognizing your perceptual mechanism as a tool which you already wield based on choices you yourself make allows you to more effectively view yourself as the operative director of your reality. This understanding and viewpoint is highly empowering as it places you firmly in the driver’s seat of generating, creating and expressing your reality.

Otherwise, you would view yourself as merely a passenger in your own life or as a victim of circumstance in which your reality is generated by a secondary physical, mental, biological or chemical process which, understandably, appears to be happening to you.

The true power of your perception is in recognizing and appreciating your active, operative role in the creation of every aspect and nuance of your life within each and every moment of time. This recognition and appreciation is your way to personal power and freedom.
